Shuichi Gonda

Shūichi Gonda, born on March 3, 1989, is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Shimizu S-Pulse and the Japan national team. He also represented the Japan national team at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Gonda began his senior career at FC Tokyo, where he made 203 appearances. He was then loaned to SV Horn, where he made 17 appearances. After his loan spell, he moved to Sagan Tosu, where he made 67 appearances. In 2019, he transferred to Portimonense, where he made 15 appearances. He was then loaned to Shimizu S-Pulse, where he made 38 appearances. In 2022, he made a permanent move to Shimizu S-Pulse, where he has made 33 appearances so far.

On the international stage, Gonda has represented Japan at various levels. He has made 11 appearances for the U20 team, 21 appearances for the U23 team, and 38 appearances for the senior team.

Gonda has been part of several successful campaigns with the national team, including winning the AFC Asian Cup in 2011 and being runners-up in the 2019 edition. He was also part of the team that reached the fourth place at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
